In fault-tolerant RAID arrays, the server will continue to function in a degraded state, but if another disk fails, the server will stop working entirely.
In such situations, it’s important to determine the sequence of disk failures, as the first failed disk may contain outdated data. If a system administrator attempts to recover disks on their own, it can lead to a major error! If the server "activates" the first failed disk, it will begin recovering data from the point of failure, which could be months or even years ago, resulting in complete data loss and making recovery impossible!
